Proposal for Activities of IDEA

Step 1: Evaluation of Performance of Iranian Opposition Organizations.

The intimate relationship between democracy and education and the way that they feed each other is a profound subject that requires analysis and utility of their effective interactions. In IDEA, we plan to use merits of democracy for advancing education in democratic countries and search for ways to develop educational tools to enable the society to make the transition to democracy.

Step 2: Build a Leadership.

Dr Cyrus Kangarlu established IDEA in 2015 and has since been building infrastructure for its communication with the world including TV studios, production teams, and a board of trustees to oversee IDEA’s activities. He has able to draw tremendous attention to the ability of IDEA to impact current and historic conditions and create enthusiasm in IDEA’s approach in empowering people about their participation in the democratization process in every country. IDEA intends to expand its activities to achieve its vision on the task of development of necessary tools to reinforce democracy in the Western countries while at the same time
develop tools for bringing and spreading democracy to countries under autocratic rule.

Step 3: Organizational Structure.

IDEA is an NGO that based on its mission must act swiftly to establish itself as the leader in developing approaches for reinforcing democracy in the democratic countries and help with education of merits of democracy in undemocratic countries. This requires (a) finance, (b) communication and (c) daily activities.

“Helping establishment of democracy in undemocratic countries” is a great goal, but in the light of setbacks on the march of democracy in the world and reversal of expansion of democracy in some countries we must take finances communication and activities seriously. We estimate that we need to raise $5M annually to be able to develop the communication infrastructure and organize the necessary activities. IDEA has already built its website ideatv.org and populated it with various intellectual products generated by its founders. Based on the enthusiasm we have generated in a short time, IDEA is planning to intensify its activities by reaching out to organizations with established track record of support for democracy to receive support.

• (a) Finance: Although IDEA had initially planned to raise the first year’s budget by March 1, 2021, but given the events of recent months, we will must set the intended date to 2022. AS such we will reach out to potential big donors such as foundations,
  philanthropists and government organizations with a high stake in expanding democracy in the world.
• (b) Communication: IDEA has recruited a team of young and enthusiastic individuals from around the world to build a TV station that will be internet based at first and once funds are secured will go beam its programs via satellite around the world.
• (c) Activities: IDEA has plans to attract the most reputable intellectuals for public debate on various venues such as scientific conferences, debate on media, teaching democracy and how to build the necessary tools for bringing it to Iran.

Step 4: The action plan.

Our action plan is designed to become quickly recognized as the sole educational medium to unite people around the goal of democracy. Given the feedbacks that the activities of our founding members have received within the last few months we are planning to gear up their presence and direct their work towards an escalation of the cause of democracy. We plan to reach out to a broad audience in US, Europe and Middle East to teach them the aspects of democracy that requires reinforcement in US and EU countries and those that has been trampled by the undemocratic regimes such as the Islamic countries. Because IDEA is not an opposition group and its sole intention is to use democracy to educate people who are currently deprived from its benefits we believe that we would be able to generate impressive results in a short time.
